Announcing The Fellowship of the Ring: Trick Taking Game

Embark on the legendary adventure in a cooperative, card-based game where players take on the roles of beloved characters and work together to complete objectives and overcome challenges. Designed by Bryan Bornmueller, this game brings together one of his favorite types of games and one of his favorite fandoms in a fast-paced adventure that brings the iconic story of The Fellowship to the gaming table in an all-new way. The Fellowship of the Ring: Trick-Taking Game will be available worldwide in January 2025 and will be regionally available in fifteen languages.

Gather your Fellowship or Take a Solo Adventure

There are multiple ways to experience The Fellowship of the Ring: Trick-Taking Game, whether you want to bring together three or four players to choose roles and collaborate or try your hand at solo or dual modes that use a card pyramid to serve as an additional player. You can also choose to explore the story starting at the first chapter, which we highly recommend for your first playthrough, or bounce between your favorites using the continuous play mode. Regardless of how you choose to play, each game will feel unique and challenging based on the characters you choose to play and the hands you are dealt.

Narrative Storytelling Follows the First Novel

Follow the key story beats of the iconic fantasy tale by J. R. R. Tolkien, starting with Bilbo Baggins’ Eleventy-First birthday party in Bag End. Players are taken through eighteen total chapters chronologically, focusing on big story moments and the beloved literary characters among them. Each chapter introduces new challenges, characters, and items; slowly revealing cards that build toward the forming of The Fellowship. Story cards are used at the beginning of each chapter, featuring actual text from the book, to set the mood as you begin your adventure.

Experience Classic Characters through Stained-Glass Artwork

Reimagined by Elaine Ryan, the classic characters you love are brought to the table using a beautiful stained-glass style. Our creative director, Bree Woodward, wanted the art to feel fantastical and whimsical and like you were truly submerging into the story, with inspiration from classic fairytales. Stay tuned for the artist’s feature next month, where we dive into their process and their relationship with second breakfast.
